- FedEx Ground New Shipping Requirements for Hazardous Materials

July 25, 2011Effective August 1, 2011, FedEx Ground will require all hazardous materials shipper papers to be completed and submitted electronically using one of the following methods:
- a FedEx® electronic shipping solution,
- a FedEx® recognized hazardous materials vendor software application,
- a FedEx® Compatible Solutions Program application, or
- a custom solution that has the ability to transmit hazmat shipping information electronically
The Bureau of Dangerous Goods, Ltd. is a FedEx recognized software vendor with its ShipHazmat web applications and CD software.
We have developed a specific web solution called ShipHazmat Ground to help shippers meet this new requirement. This easy-to-use solution will be available August 1, 2011 in conjunction with the FedEx Ground requirement.

July 21, 2011ShipHazmat displays completed shipper's declarations in PDF for users and shippers to view and print from. We've recently discovered that current versions of Google Chrome are experiencing difficulty in opening and viewing PDFs, in general. After a little research, our support staff found the following article from Google:
Adobe PDF issues
Google Chrome uses its own built-in PDF viewer to open PDFs. You can disable this built-in PDF plugin or disable the Adobe PDF plugin to see if this resolves the issue. Please read the support article above for complete instructions on resolving this issue.
We recommend using Internet Explorer or Firefox if this issue persists.

Feb 3, 2011Check out this introductory segment from the National Geographic Channel about the May 11, 1996 plane crash that killed 110 people onboard due to chemical oxygen generators improperly being packaged and placed into the aircraft's cargo hold. The DC-9 plane was in route from Miami, Florida to Atlanta, Georgia. The plane crashed in the Everglades shortly after take-off as a result of a smouldering fire in the cargo hold fueled by oxygen from the generators.
